Kathy's Birthday and New Year's Eve.

Oh, this was fun. We were so baddd! But a good kind of bad.

This show is a regular Thursday night event at Coco Bongo's, a Latin Club in Orlando. Usually we go there to dance, but this will make a great alternative.

Being Kathy's birthday she had "Special Seating"; that means on stage with the dancers. These boys are supreme eye candy, to be sure.

They even bring some adorable waiters as well. They have this great approach to serving drinks called "body shots". I'll let you fill in the blanks. I had three, drinks that is!!

Seriously these gentlemen put on a great show and I would encourage all the local ladies (and those passing though) to catch a performance.

Two very special parties

New Year's Eve at Pleasure Island with Chris Botti

When I started checking around for New Year's Eve the pickings were rather slim. It was beginning to look like an out of town trip would be in store when I get this announcement in the mail.

Chris Botti at the Jazz Co. for New Year's Eve

As it turns out the B52's and Joan Jett were also scheduled on the outdoor stages. But Florida weather intervened and it rained so much that arcs would have been more appropriate than cars. Luckily Chris was indoors.

But if Chris Botti had been outdoors there would still have been a crowd. The party clothes would have been different; yellow waders and vinyl Mickey Mouse ponchos. Trés chic, for sure!

What a great evening. The band played three sets; one hour each. There was lots of good natured banter between Chris and Harvey Jones. Harvey went on to educate everyone about Marmite and all of it's uses. Seems to have a shelf life approaching styrofoam. And, when you're not eating it, one can use it to repair wallpaper, leaky radiators and other things better left to the imagination.

Gee Harvey, sounds like Marmite could replace duct tape.

The club was packed with people dragging chairs all over the place. There were a lot of people from out of town who had come to see Chris. A really great crowd!

Someone even had a "mistletoe hat". Now that is one resourceful woman. Always prepared. Isn't that a scout motto? I will have to remember that hat for next year!

Jon Ossman took center stage to treat us to Midnight Without You. Certainly made my night.

The Jazz Co was overflowing that night but people were there to listen. There wasn't the usual chatter from the bar or movement in and out of the club. Chris Botti and his band had enchanted everyone within hearing.

Thanks, Chris, for the pleasure of your music on such a "gothic" night.

Now, I have to ask. Coming back soon...?

Well, put the suitcase back in the closet. New Year's Eve has just been confirmed.
